Welcome to the last house on the block!
Welcome to Harm Reduction Anonymous recovery meetings. Discover how our meetings offer a unique approach to support and understanding on your path to a new way to live.
At HRA, we don't just "provide services"—we build a foundation. 🏗️ Fellowship is the glue of everything we do at 7316 State Rd 52. To us, fellowship means walking shoulder-to-shoulder with our neighbors, from the streets of Hudson to the exam rooms at Vark Clinic.
Since June 2025, we’ve served over 3,000 people, but the real work happens in the quiet moments: helping a friend fill out an intake packet, handing out a clean shirt, or sharing a meal. We are building a "Whole Person Care" ecosystem where no one has to walk the path to recovery alone. Together, we are turning a medical plaza into a home for healing. 🤝✨

The "Solution" Beyond the Struggle
We believe that no matter the "Harm" a person struggles with—whether it is substance use, homelessness, or mental health—there is a solution. However, that solution is only reachable when we dismantle the barriers to entry.
The HRA Creed: "We provide the resources next door so you can find the strength within. From the bottom of the struggle to the top of the professional field, we walk the journey together."
How We Break the Barriers:
-
Resource Accessibility: By providing food, clothing, and linkage to the Vark Clinic under one roof, we remove the "survival stress" that prevents people from striving for the top.
-
Radical Inclusion: Led by our Peer Recovery Specialists, we prove that your past does not disqualify you from a professional future.
-
Productive Citizenship: Our goal is to return every individual to society as a responsible, productive member—not just "clean," but employed, empowered, and essential.
From Participant to Facilitator: The HRA Leadership Pathway
At 7316 State Rd 52, we maintain a clear distinction between the "Anonymous" spiritual journey and the "Service Center" professional journey. While the meetings happen next door, the HRA Service Center is the hub where that recovery is put into action.
1. Mastering the HRA 12-Step Workbook
The journey begins with the internal work. Members dive deep into the HRA-specific curriculum, which addresses the "Whole Person." By working these steps, members don't just find sobriety; they find their voice. Once a member completes the workbook, they aren't just "recovered"—they are qualified by experience.
2. Becoming a Peer Facilitator
Graduates of the workbook transition into facilitators. In the Service Center, these members lead others through the same journey.
-
The "Warm Handoff": Facilitators bridge the gap for new arrivals, helping them navigate the pantry and the Vark Clinic intake packets.
-
Breaking Barriers: Because our facilitators have "been there," they break down the walls of shame and mistrust that keep people at the bottom.
3. Professional Certification & Clinical Growth
We are expanding beyond peer support. Soon, HRA will host an on-site Clinician, allowing us to offer formal pathways to professional certification:
-
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS): Turning lived experience into a state-recognized career.
-
Mental Health Specialist: Training our members to recognize and support the complex psychological needs of the Hudson community.
Frequently asked questions
What makes your recovery meetings different?
Our meetings focus on behaviors and substances, emphasizing safer choices and reducing harm. We don't require abstinence, providing a flexible, supportive framework that respects individual autonomy.
How does "powerless" work in harm reduction?
It acknowledges struggles with aspects of a substance or behavior relationship without demanding complete surrender. It's about managing and mitigating harm, not necessarily eliminating the behavior entirely.
How do you define sanity?
We reframe "restore to sanity" in terms of practical, safer decision-making. Our approach focuses on making informed choices that reduce negative consequences.
What is continuous improvement and flexibility?
We emphasize ongoing adjustment and adaptation of strategies, rather than a one-time fix. Our approach is about evolving with your needs.
What types of meetings do you offer?
We offer open meetings to anyone struggling with specific harms and are looking for a solution. All are welcome.
What can I expect at my first meeting?
We welcome newcomers and believe that diversity is a strength. Expect a supportive environment free from the horrors of the harm we've suffered.
Are there any specific rules or guidelines?
We have no dues, pledges, or any rules besides no drugs or paraphernalia allowed in our meetings. Come as you are, and leave as your true self.
How do you define "power?"
The concept of a "Power" remains flexible, allowing individuals to define it as they see fit – whether it's a spiritual entity, the community, inner strength, or a combination.
